Meeting C++ in Berlin, Germany 2024
November 14, 2024
This November, think-cell was proud to sponsor Meeting C++ for another year, since 2012. We were not only happy to have a booth and two speakers during the conference, which took place in Berlin (and online) from November 14th to 16th, but also to be the video sponsor so that everyone in the community can watch the talks afterwards.
Our Senior Software Engineer, Sebastian Theophil, presented his talk “Classes C++23 Style,” where he shared the best C++23 practices for defining common types of classes. The talk covered the spaceship operator, conditionally explicit conversions, C++26 contracts, reference-qualified member functions, and deducing this. By starting from common use cases, the audience learned not only how to use these C++ features but also when to use them.
Software Engineer Jonathan Müller presented “An (In-)Complete Guide to C++ Object Lifetimes.” During the talk, the audience learned about the rules for object creation and destruction, and when it is safe to form pointers and references to an object. They also learned about advanced functions like std::launder, std::bit_cast, and std::start_lifetime_as.
We would like to thank the Meeting C++ organizers for another prolific conference. If you’d like to watch the conference talks and learn more about in-depth C++ topics, head over to YouTube, where all the videos can be viewed.
