C++ Workshop for Dean's List students at RWTH Aachen, Germany 2024
October 29, 2024
think-cell recently hosted a workshop for Dean’s List students at RWTH Aachen, a university renowned for its excellence in computer science education and research. The Dean’s List recognizes the top five percent of students from each course of study, aiming to identify and support outstanding talent early on.
The workshop, titled Aspects of Professional Software Engineering, was led by Senior Software Engineer Sebastian Theophil and welcomed 16 participants. Designed to cover topics rarely addressed in academic settings, the workshop explored the nuances of writing product-level code and working with incoming client requirements.
The session was divided into two parts. In the first, participants worked on example problems and exercises to practice writing clear and correct code. Solutions were discussed collaboratively, highlighting what makes a solution both effective and canonical. The second part simulated a real-world scenario: Sebastian played the role of a customer presenting a problem, and the students collaborated to develop a solution, gaining hands-on experience in tackling practical software challenges.
Following the workshop, networking continued over dinner at Markt43, where participants engaged in networking with Sebastian, Jonathan Müller (Software Engineer and RWTH Dean’s List alumnus), and Anastasia from our tech recruiting team. The informal setting allowed students to learn more about think-cell’s unique working culture and career opportunities in C++ Development. Students were asking our team members, what made them chose think-cell as an employer and what is making them stay now, what would they advise to focus on during their studies, and, jokingly, if the team likes Berlin better than Aachen.
We were thrilled to connect with such talented students and share our passion for professional software engineering. We look forward to future collaborations with RWTH Aachen!
