C++ Workshop for Dean's List students at RWTH Aachen, Germany 2024
October 29, 2024
This October, think-cell will return to RWTH Aachen for a special event – our very own workshop for Dean’s List students. The Dean's List recognizes the top five percent of students from each course of study, aiming to identify and continuously support outstanding students early on.
RWTH is known for its long-standing excellence in computer science education and research, ranked 50th globally and second among German universities by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.
"Aspects of Professional Software Engineering," a specialized workshop by think-cell, will be led by Senior Software Engineer Sebastian Theophil. The workshop is limited to just 20 students, with registration on a first-come, first-served basis. During the workshop, we want to show the students aspects of software development that are rarely taught at university. The code we write — unlike the code that students write for their assignments — will be read and changed for years, if not decades. It must be easily understandable and ideally correct.
Our workshop will consist of two parts: in the first we want to show the students how to write good code. We have prepared a couple of example problems and exercises that the participants will solve. We will discuss the solutions and find out what constitutes a good and canonical solution. In the second part we will develop a complex feature. We will play the part of one of our customers and tell the participants about a problem we are having. Together they will develop a solution.
After the workshop, Sebastian and the students will continue networking over dinner, joined by Jonathan Müller, Software Engineer and RWTH Aachen Dean’s List alumnus, and Anastasia from our tech recruiting team, who will be there to answer any questions about working at think-cell.
We are excited about the opportunity to meet RWTH’s top students and collaborate on building solutions together. Aachen, here we come!
