Datathon in Zurich, Switzerland 2024

In late April 2024, think-cell proudly sponsored and participated in the Datathon at Innovationspark Zurich organized by the Analytics Club at ETH Zurich, Europe's biggest student-run AI and Machine Learning organization. The three-day event brought together 170 talented students from renowned universities in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The Datathon kicked off on Friday with an introduction day, where think-cell, along with other companies, presented their challenges. It was a great opportunity for our Machine Learning team – Alina and Till – to interact with the students, answer their questions, and get to know their areas of interest. They were impressed by the level of engagement and the diverse skill sets the participants brought to the table.

On Saturday morning, the think-cell team hosted a 1-hour workshop to dive deeper into our challenge: to analyze image data, extracting valuable insights for real-world applications. The students eagerly sought clarification on the task at hand, and after 12 o'clock they had 24-hours to complete the challenge.

On Sunday, the top 5 teams out of 10 had a chance to present their innovative solutions to all participants, with the top 3 teams winning prizes. Despite the short timeframe, they developed sophisticated models and delivered remarkable results. The submissions we received were impressive.

Overall, the Datathon exceeded our expectations. We were thrilled to see the students' enthusiasm and their ability to apply their knowledge to real-world data problems. The collaborative atmosphere encouraged participants to think outside the box and push the boundaries of data analytics.

Additionally, it was encouraging to observe students happily receiving our comfortable socks and sweet snacks and expressing interest in joining our development team. We are grateful to have been a part of this inspiring weekend and look forward to future opportunities to engage with and learn from these bright minds.
