C++ Russia, online 2020

November 11-14, 2020

This November, think-cell took part in C++ Russia 2020. It was a 4-day online event with 3 tracks in parallel devoted to concurrency, performance, architecture and infrastructure solutions.

Our Senior Software Engineer, Sebastian T., presented his new talk “Windows, macOS and the Web: Lessons from cross-platform development at think-cell”. There, he provided an overview of the C++ abstractions think-cell have implemented, focusing on the cross-platform problem areas where common semantics were hard to define due to limitations of either one of the operating systems. Of course, Sebastian also showed tools that let our company write a web application in C++.

During the talk, conference participants could ask questions via a dedicated Telegram channel and they made good use of that opportunity. Mikhail Matrosov was CppRussia's resident expert during the talk, responsible for moderating the discussion. After the talk, the discussion moved to a separate video-conferencing session and evolved into a discussion of good software engineering practices in general and think-cell's approach to software development in particular.

We were happy to attend this conference and we are looking forward to the upcoming ones.
